At the beginning of 2014, we have made an important addition to The Semiahmoo Foundation team by hiring Larry Shareski as part-time Ambassador. Larry’s vast network of connections in the community will be valuable in creating awareness about inclusion and will be instrumental in promoting our philosophy that all people have rights and responsibilities.
The Semiahmoo Foundation exists to fund, support and enhance the programs and services delivered by Semiahmoo House Society. Since my joining the organization in June 2012, I observed that Larry was informally fulfilling the role of Ambassador by supporting the efforts of The Foundation by volunteering to network and fund raise. Therefore, I sat down with Doug Tennant, our Executive Director, and Stephanie Green, our Director of Human Resources and we created the part-time position.
The newly created position also demonstrates that The Semiahmoo Foundation is walking the talk when it comes to recognizing people’s abilities and providing opportunities to fulfill their dreams. The Foundation plans to add to its roster of Ambassadors in the future and it has a great pool of talent from which to choose.
Upon receiving his offer for the position, Larry exclaimed, “Alright! I’m looking forward to making more friends in the community.”
Congratulations, Larry, and welcome to The Semiahmoo Foundation.
