Larry and Takaya

Larry Shareski, Foundation Ambassador, presented Takaya with a gift bag of products made by people who attend the Employment, Training and Support program.

As of last Friday, Takaya Hart finished her 3-week practicum working in the kitchen at Semiahmoo House Society. “We enjoyed having her here,” said Jo-Ann Ahohen, Manager for Employment Training and Support Services. “She helped us with events. She’s been great and everyone loves her.”

Takaya, a grade 11 student at Earl Marriott Secondary, selected Semiahmoo House Society to do her practicum as part of her Humanity’s Co-op where she studies psychology, social studies and English. When asked what motivated her to choose Semiahmoo House Society, she replied: “My friend’s sister has Down Syndrome and I really like her. So, I wanted to work with people like her.”

Thank you, Takaya. You’ve been a big help working in our kitchen and in perpetuating our philosophy of inclusion.
