As I was pondering the selection of an appropriate theme for the current newsletter, it became obvious that the notion of dreams was common among many of the stories. Dreams are important for the holistic well-being of people and for achieving goals that may seem impossible. In this newsletter you will read about Larry and Amanda who were recently hired with the Foundation and about Alex, a self-advocate, who recently met his autistic hero. You will also learn about Candice and Verlynn who were enlightened by a speaker on Customized Employment and discovered new ways to help people achieve their employment dreams. And don’t miss the wonderful article from Shab explaining how dreams have the power to impact one’s life significantly.

Have you noticed? We are again making changes to the format of our newsletter. We’re sending this edition of our quarterly newsletter in an e-mail format. You still have the opportunity to read our stories as they come out on our blog http://SemiahmooFoundation.com. Our newsletter compiles these stories and others so that you stay informed of what’s happening at Semiahmoo House Society and The Semiahmoo Foundation and about topics that are relevant to people interested in the community living movement.

We are limiting the mass mailing of our paper newsletter to once a year in an improved and more comprehensive format that will include the donor report and other important milestones. This format would be sent at the end of the year to people who have not registered their e-mail addresses with us. For those of you with e-mail addresses, you will receive the annual format via e-mail unless you advise us otherwise.

In our attempt to reduce the costs associated with direct mail, we are requesting all our constituents to provide their e-mail addresses. If you have not have already done so, please e-mail Amanda at a.erlendson@shsbc.ca and provide us with your e-mail contact information. Alternatively, if you do not wish to continue receiving e-mails from us, e-mail Amanda and simply ask her to remove your name from our e-mail list.

To access our newsletter, please to go to http://www.semi-house-society.com/foundation.

I hope that you enjoy this newsletter and would like to hear from you if you have any suggestions. I can be contacted at l.tremblay@shsbc.ca.

Thank you for reading!
