Semiahmoo House captured my interest with Larry at the Breezeway Coffee shop below our old office. I was introduced to him by Paul Wheeler and I got a chance to know him over the first few weeks that I had moved out to BC. For myself, I have few hobbies and would like to think I am one of those rare people that truly loves coming into work on a daily basis. Larry’s pride and sense of purpose and belonging at SHS drew me in to want to learn more about what engaged him to such a high degree. Thereafter, the experience with all the staff and the people they serve has captivated me.
The ability to assist people in finding ways to execute in their unique abilities (something they would likely do even if they were not getting paid) provides amazing dividends for all related parties. SHS has delivered on that for both the clients and staff. It has driven us to participate in the Employment Program and I now get to see Amanda on a daily basis become part of the team at our office. She has integrated into the culture and has become an included member of our work society.
There are few things that engage me more than the challenge and excitement that the game of business provides day in and day out. Seeing everyone who wants that opportunity having the ability to enjoy the opportunity puts significant wind in my sails.
