It has been extremely difficult to choose one experience which exemplifies a time when SHS went above and beyond in living its purpose. Instead, I found that it was the daily personalization of experiences that have been more indicative of the effort our staff exerts to provide quality services. I see quality in the way staff members personalize jokes and communication styles in order to engage our members to the fullest. The epitome of quality to me lies in the everyday details of our interactions as those interactions are the building blocks of meaningful relationships.
So, instead of sharing one particular story about the SHS, I will share just one fraction of my every day experience working at the Recreation and Leisure program. I believe that anyone who has seen the arrival of our members to a summer camp or class can attest to our quality of care. The way our staff members are greeted every day by our members has been the most telling proof of the respectful and enthusiastic relationships that have been fostered. I would argue that this is the largest differentiator of SHS.
