Semiahmoo House Society means to me a lot of things to.  I get to go on sweet trips like this year I went with Rec and Leisure to Mexico.  It happens about every 2 years. We go on these trips without our parents which is nice for a change. Every year we do these other cool trips. For example in the summer,  I will be doing the July overnight fireworks camp.  There are others trips like going to Victoria or Loon Lake. Also, I do the Adult Night Out which gets me out for 3 hours every Tuesday with my friends doing cool stuff like bowling, swimming, going out for dinners, movies and casino. The Adult Night Out is either on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In the fall I’m looking forward to signing up for the Disney On ice with Rec and Leisure.

Not only am I part of the Society, I am also part of The Semiahmoo Foundation which gives me a job allowing me to expand my office and computer skills, earn money and work with a great team. Working here helps me earn and save money for trips. It’s in a great location to get to by bus when I work.

For the Purdy’s Christmas Fundraiser, I raised $ 1200 by myself for the Wish Fund. For Easter, our team raised almost $200 for the Wish Fund. The Wish Fund helps out people with disabilities that can’t afford to go on trips at all. For me, it’s a great feeling to help out these people and make their wish come true.

The Society is planning on building these great apartments. Hopefully, they will be finished soon because I’m looking forward to moving into one of them one day.

We have these great events that thank the donors for donating money to help lower cost of programs and events. We also have a volunteer tea where we celebrate, appreciate and thank our volunteers for helping out with the Society or the Foundation or both.

Semiahmoo House Society, a non-profit organization located in Surrey/White Rock, exists to provide quality services and supports to people with disabilities and their families in the community. The Semiahmoo Foundation exists to fund, support and enhance the programs and services delivered by Semiahmoo House Society.
