Good evening everyone. My name is Madison VanOene. I am a Board member of Semiahmoo House Society and a Self Advocate of Semiahmoo (SAS).

I have been living independently for the past eight years, and being on my own has taught me how to become a more mature individual, but I cannot do this without my parent’s support. I would thank my dad, mom, stepdad, stepmom for the unconditional love and support. From when I was a kid till now, my parents have always been there and supported me in my life. In happy and sad moments they are always there to cheer me up. Without them I cannot live my life to the fullest. I am forever grateful to my parents. I would also like to thank my workers for their unconditional help and support in my life.

As a SAS member, I am very much involved in the activities such as, fund raising for beach wheelchairs for people with disabilities. So then even they are not able to swim or walk they can go to the beach and experience the water and the sand, and be able to have freedom to enjoy life as well. I spoke at the all Candidates Mixer. I really love to listen to their federal election platform and it inspired me and helped me choose who to vote for.

I enjoy these activities because it helps me to become a good and responsible advocate. Without Semiahmoo House Society I wouldn’t be the person I am today.

Thank You.

Madison VanOene, Board Member

As said during her speech on the evening of November 2 at the Gala of Bollywood Dreams.
