TO OUR COMMUNITYUNITI Partner Charitable Organization Financial Summaries

We are pleased to present the financial summaries for UNITI’s two charitable
organizations, Semiahmoo House Society (SHS) and The Semiahmoo Foundation
(TSF). We have a commitment to transparency and accountability, and it is important to us that our stakeholders and the community are well-informed about our financial health and the impactful work we continue to perform.

Our commitment to achieving our Ends and ensuring that people with disabilities live lives of their choosing in the community means that both SHS and TSF self-fund services that receive limited or no government funding, including Rec and Leisure, the Self-Advocates of Semiahmoo and the Centre for Compassionate Learning. We have chosen to use reserve funds, investment gains, grant revenue, and donations to sustain these vital initiatives. Our strong financial position, demonstrated through our well-established cash reserves, including our Capital Fund and Contingency Fund, has also allowed us to run deficit budgets when needed, rather than cancel these much-needed services.

We are proud to share that we have recently been awarded the highest rating possible for financial management by the Council on Accreditation. This prestigious recognition underscores our adherence to principles of risk management, accountability, and responsibility. It affirms that our financial practices are sound and efficient, ensuring the optimal use of our resources.

These sound financial practices have enabled Semiahmoo House Society and The Semiahmoo Foundation to achieve a high level of efficiency in utilizing its funding. This efficiency is crucial in attaining positive program outcomes and securing the long-term financial stability of our organization. By carefully managing our resources, we continue to deliver exceptional services and support to the communities we serve.

We invite you to explore our detailed financial reports and witness firsthand that our financial decisions and practices are focused on ensuring that we achieve our mission and that people with disabilities are supported to not just be included but to be leaders in their own lives and in the community. We remain committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our supporters, partners, and the communities we serve.
